When?

"I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations.  For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens. May your glory shine over all the earth." Psalms 57:9-11

Being raised in the church there are certain things that are ingrained in me that I sometimes really struggle to overcome, while I continue in my own relationship with God.

Quiet time/Devotional or whatever word you use for the time you dedicate specifically to God is what I seem to be struggling with the most.  Somewhere along the way it was told to me that this should be done in the morning, well I am not a morning person to say the least.  Therefore this thing of YOU HAVE to spend your time with God FIRST thing has ALWAYS caused me to fail.  I read something today that said God does not want our tired half hearted time, so after struggling with the quiet time thing since I was in my early teens I have come to a decision.

My time that is solely dedicated to soaking up the teachings of my Lord will be at night before bed when my house is silent and there are no distractions.  Now I am not saying that this is the only time I will spend with my Lord because really I talk to him constantly all day long from the time I get up, I am just saying that the time I will dive into His Word each day will be at night.  A time to reflect on my day and a time to pray over tomorrow.

What a relief that I have finally let go of that notion that spending time with MY FATHER has to be done a certain way.

  1. I need to work on this. You're totally right about it not needing to be at a certain time or done a certain way.
